The Ryerson Students' Union will be kicking off our Week of Welcome by transforming the busiest street on campus a place of exciting entertainment on Tuesday with the Gould Street Festival. Features include:
Head down to the Ram in the Rye for some great entertainment! Sit down and relax some friends while enjoying the music. No matter your music style there is surely something that will catch your interest from a mesmerizing beatboxer to a relaxing indie band!
Right back in the heart of the campus on Gould Street, you have the chance to visit 130 campus groups including 65 student groups and 45 course unions that showcase the campus' vibrant and diverse community.
Head down to the Ram in the Rye for a game of Bingo that you will never forget. Play a game and you'll have the chance to win some dirty prizes.
Come out and dance the night away as the RSU turns our Ram in the Rye patio into a huge outdoor party. The party will include live DJ on stage. This is an event that you definitely shouldn't miss!
disOrienation is the alternative to traditional orientation events, and features activities related to social justice, anti-oppression, sustainability, equity, and educational focus. DisOrientation is a radically different, politically progressive event. It brings together a wide range of campus and community groups and services, and draws the links between the many different kinds of political, environmental and social justice based activism that exists on campus and in our communities.
This year?s disOrientation Day theme is: Take it Over. In light of the Provincial elections, it?s time for students to gain agency and take over the ballot boxes, the streets, and public space, for the issues that matter to them. On this day, Gould Street will be transformed into a Social Justice Street Party featuring activities/booths of the Committees of the RSU (Equity, Educational Issues, and Sustainability), and the Equity Service Groups (RyePride, Women?s Centre, RyeAccess, Students Against Racism, and the Community Food Room), as well as campus and community groups.
There will be socially conscious performers, street art, graffiti, silkscreening, chalking, workshops, interactive games and activities, and lots of free giveaways.
Take the time to lounge and relax around the Thomas Lounge. This evening features student performances, art, and classic games. Enjoy our specialty gourmet coffee and tea menu.
